Is the Muslim World a Credible Partner for Obama’s Outreach? – By: Anwar Ibrahim, writing in New Perspective Quarterly, Spring 2009
Publisher: New Perspective Quarterly
Ibrahim comments favourably on early efforts by the Obama administration to be a better partner for the Muslim World but argues that Muslims themselves must change in order to become more credible partners for the US.
He indicates that they must make real progress in ensuring that governments in the Muslim world are more responsive to the aspirations of their people and fulfill their legitimate expectations, pointing to the examples of Indonesia and Turkey.
For such efforts to be successful, they will need to be inclusive.
