The Pharaoh Strikes Back: Egypt vs. Hezbollah – By David Schenker

The article asserts that the Middle East is racked with divisions, but that the fissures run much deeper than personal animosity.

The Arab world is embroiled in a cold war, pitting Iranian allies Syria, Qatar, Hezbollah, and Hamas against “moderate” pro-West states like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.

The battle-between competing regional visions of moqawama (resistance) and development and coexistence-has been joined in Lebanon, Palestine, and Iraq.

The author discusses these divisions (namely between Egypt and Hezbollah) in detail, concluding that “the preservation of embattled Arab friends should be a key element of U.S. strategy as Washington embarks on its policy of engagement with Tehran. Not only will this strengthen Washington’s position at the negotiating table with Tehran, it will ensure that a robust Arab front is in place when the talks ultimately fail.”

It’s said that every Pharaoh has his Moses. The current Pharaoh, Hosni Mubarak, seems to have found his Moses in Hizb\’Allah. His anti-Shia sectarian helpers, the two Zionist puppet Kings Abdullah (Jordan) and Abdullah (Saudi Arabia), could not be more happier on Pharaoh’s latest discovery. During 2006 Israeli invasion of Lebanon – these three pro-USrael puppet regimes blamed Hizb’Allah for inviting Israel to attack Lebanon by killing and capturing Israel soldiers, who were having a picnic inside an Israeli tank along Hizb’Allah patrolled Lebanese border in the South.

Since the victory of Islamic Revolution (1979) – the anti-Islam Arab nationalist regime in Cairo has considered Islamic State as a serious threat to its being the ‘voice of Arab World’ – as projected by the western powers to control the Arabic-speaking Muslim majority countries. However, Hizb’Allah’s success in pushing Israel Occupation Force (IOF) from Southern Lebanon in 2000 and inflicting a humiliating military and moral defeat to the Zionist entity during 34-day war in Summer 2006 – has destroyed the myth of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan being the ‘defenders’ of Palestinian cause – as no Arab army has ever been able to defeat IOF since the European colonization of Palestine to solve its ‘Jewish Problem’ in 1948……
